Pro-lifers announce mass protest at Carhart's clinic
Aug 20, 2009
A late-term abortion clinic in Bellevue, Nebraska, will soon be the site of a large pro-life demonstration.
The clinic is operated by late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart, who has threatened to open a facility in Kansas to replace the late George Tiller. Ann Marie Bowen of Nebraskans United for Life tells OneNewsNow the demonstration will be at the Bellevue clinic.
"The elementary school that I attended is actually right across the street from this horrible abortuary," she admits.
She finds difficulty imagining the facility as a surgical center. "It was an auto repair shop, and it is in very bad disarray. He does not keep it up. It looks like the ugly place that it is. It has weeds and broken glass," she describes.
The center's yard also features a broken down truck with flat tires. Bowen and others, including members of Operation Rescue, have asked for help from the state attorney general.

"One of things we'd really like Nebraskans to know is that we are trying to meet with our attorney general, whose name is Jon Bruning," she notes. "As yet he has not responded to our letters to ask to meet with him on August 28."
Pro-life groups are asking for a state investigation. Leaders from Operation Rescue are in Bellevue to train demonstrators for a major, peaceful protest at the clinic set for Saturday.
